FAQ
How are the tutoring sessions conducted?
You don’t need any special software or downloads for your Grason Education lessons, just a laptop, iPad or computer with an internet connection, audio and a camera. We provide the link to you before your lesson. The lessons are always live and interactive.

Once your child is familiar with how to turn up their devices volume, use the drawing tool and other simple features, you do not need to sit with your child for the lesson.

Why is online tutoring preferred?
Online tutoring offers several advantages over in-person tutoring. Firstly, it provides flexibility for families and eliminates geographical constraints. The convenience of accessing materials and resources digitally enhances the overall learning experience, which students often prefer.
Online tutoring offers a unique advantage for reading-focused sessions as students can observe the tutor's mouth movements while reading. This visual aid enhances language learning by providing a clear demonstration of pronunciation and articulation. The ability to see and hear the tutor's expressions and enunciations contributes to a more immersive and effective learning experience, fostering improved reading skills compared to traditional in-person settings.

How much is tutoring?
Once we understand your child’s needs, we help you work out the best package that will work for you. Our flexibility means you could have several sessions a week or one a fortnight. There are no long-term contracts, with several options including pay-as-you-go or packaged sessions. Prices are per hour and available to view under our 'Book Now' button.

Can I cancel the tutoring session?
You can email info@grasoneducation.com to cancel your lesson and an educator will be in contact to reschedule your lesson.

Can I just do a trial?
Yes, our first session is a complimentary trial. Keep in mind however, that a part of the first lesson revolves around meeting your teacher, introducing the platform and formative assessment.

How do you ensure the lessons are effective?
Generally, children love to work on an online platform. Our personalised lessons have a fun approach, and our regular reporting after each session provide students (and parents) with confidence.

Yes, you have the option of viewing which one of our fantastic teachers is available at a time that suits you. Apart from tutor illness or other personal circumstances, your teacher remains the same each week.

How do I know if my child needs tutoring?
If your child is struggling with reading or writing, exhibits signs of dyslexia, or has not made expected progress in reading, Grason Education will be beneficial.
We also teach high-achieving students looking for an extra challenge and others going through a transition. Send us an enquiry to chat further about what your child may need.

How do you personalise the lesson for my child?
From the first lesson, our teachers determine where your child is through observations and informal assessments. They continue to personalise the learning program to meet the student's needs. This is in conjunction with information from the parents and any reports you provide us with.

How does Grason Education differ from traditional tutoring methods?
Grason Education uses qualified, experienced teachers with a minimum Bachelor of Education to personalise your child's learning journey.
We focus on explicit, systematic instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, and other essential reading skills. It is based on scientific research, while traditional methods may lack this evidence-based approach.

How can I get started with Grason Education for my child or myself?
To get started, please use the Enquire Now or Book Now button on our website. We will give you a call before the first session and work with you to create a personalised tutoring plan that helps you or your child achieve success.

What is the Science of Reading (SoR)?
The Science of Reading (SoR) is an evidence-based approach to teaching reading that emphasises understanding how language works, the relationship between spoken and written language, and the importance of phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension in reading development.
Why is the Science of Reading important for reading tutoring?
SoR provides a solid foundation for effective reading instruction. It ensures that tutoring is based on the latest research and best practices, resulting in improved reading skills for learners. SoR principles can benefit learners of all ages and reading levels. It is particularly effective for struggling readers and individuals with dyslexia.
How long does it take to see improvement in reading skills with Grason Education?
The time it takes to see improvement varies depending on the individual's starting point and the frequency of tutoring sessions. However, many learners experience noticeable progress within a few months.
Is Grason Education a registered NDIS provider?
Grason Education is not a Registered Provider within the National Disability Scheme (NDIS). Parents may still be eligible to claim via their NDIS funding arrangements (utilising Grason Education services as Non-Registered Provider), if they have elected to Self-Manage their Childs Participation Plan when setting up arrangements with the NDIS for their child’s funding. Please note: parents cannot claim funds until registering their child as a NDIS participant and gaining approval as Self-Managed Participant. Expenses incurred prior to this NDIS approval cannot be claimed.
If you have private health insurance or have a child or adult registered with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) you may be eligible to claim some financial rebate from the costs incurred from undertaking a Grason Education program.
You will need to check with your private health fund provider and the NDIS to ensure that you are eligible to make a claim for these services.
We recommend that parents contact the NDIS directly for further information:
